Isabelle Ness was born in rural Wisconsin and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts. She has also lived in Santiago, Chile, where she became fluent in Spanish. She later combined her interest in global cultures with her love of storytelling to earn a BA in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Alongside writing fiction, she has worked as a live language interpreter, paraeducator, and museum attendant.

Isabelle’s writing revolves around methods and narratives of coping—emotionally, intellectually, bodily. Her flash fiction was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and appears in Baltimore Review, Atticus Review, and The Journal of Compressed Creative Arts. Her short story “Celestial Body” was a finalist in the Sixfold Fiction Contest.

Isabelle is currently seeking representation for her debut novel.
